Tucked inside the historic Roosevelt Hotel, the Sazerac Bar is a New Orleans classic

Why We Love It: It’s posh, it’s timeless, and it is steeped in the history of New Orleans. Named for the city’s official cocktail, the bar is located inside the lovingly restored Roosevelt Hotel and the menu offers an all-star lineup of classic cocktails, including the namesake Sazerac, the Old Fashioned, the Negroni, and the Ramos Gin Fizz. The infamous Louisiana governor Huey P. Long liked to bend an elbow here consuming his cocktail of choice, the Ramos Gin Fizz. The story goes that Long, campaign stumping in New York City, was appalled by Yankee attempts at the cocktail, and dialed up Sazerac head bartender Sam Guarino to fly him to New York and school bartenders on the correct technique.
